Starting October 2013, Western Health Advantage members will be able to purchase the same high quality health coverage that they’ve always had from WHA through Covered California. This coverage is available to individuals, families, and small businesses. Open enrollment starts October 1, 2013, and coverage begins January 1, 2014.
WHA members get access to the same northern California providers and hospitals that they’ve always had with convenient, personalized service. All Covered California insurance plans must have essential health benefits, which includes physician visits, emergency care, hospital stays, prescriptions, maternity care, medical testing, children’s care, and mental health care. Preventative care services are also covered, which allows members to receive colonoscopies, mammograms, and similar testing for free.
