Is Valley Health Plan a Good Fit For Your Family?
Founded in 1985, Valley Health Plan (VHP) was created to serve the employees of Santa Clara County. By 1995, they had grown their organization to 4,500 members. Today they are still one of the top health plan options for Santa Clara County employees as well as Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) workers, and additional employer groups. VHP is the only locally-based health plan in the county.

Stay Informed About Covered California
Valley Health Plan is one of the five Covered California health plans available in Santa Clara County. The Covered California exchange was created to develop a readily accessible, user-friendly marketplace for health coverage for California residents. Health insurance companies are not allowed to deny or cancel this coverage if members become sick or have pre-existing chronic conditions, such as diabetes and asthma.
All health insurance plans that are offered within the Covered California marketplace must include certain services that are referred to as essential health benefits. These services include physician visits, emergency care, hospital stays, maternity care, children’s care, medical testing, prescription medications, and mental health care. Health insurance plans must include 100 percent coverage for preventative services as well, such as colonoscopies and mammograms.
